Hello and Welcome to the humble but useful homepage of the Semper Pacus chapter of the World Peace Activism association.

We are a grassroots level organization, and are currently trying to found a Gay-Straight Alliance at the local Centerville High School in Centerville, OH (45459). As the administration thinks the already existing extra-curricular "Diversity Council" is enough and that the highly homophobic school does not need a separate group to promote equality and diversity, we have resorted to several different levels of petitions.

Their various forms and explanations are below:

Form Alpha: for the current students of CHS, as well as any teachers or staff who are willing to sign their name. This form requests the person's name, grade (or position at the school, use "T" for teacher), asks if they are interested in joining or doing more to help this activity get started. This file contains THE SOLE COPIES OF THE PETITION TEXT!!!

The Style of the Beta Form. (Please also see the 3-5 Policy.) This form is used to tally up the number of teachers in any general subject area who support the ideas of the petition but feel uncomfortable signing it. Their names are recorded on the right-hand side simply to ensure that no one gets counted twice. Before I turn in this form with the rest of the collected signature pages, I will cut off the right-hand side, so that the teachers' names need not be shared with anyone. If YOU need to submit ANONYMOUS teacher "signatures" to me, PLEASE follow the procedure described in the 3-5 Policy. Thanks.

Form Delta: for those in the Centerville community who are in support of what we are trying to do (but are not an active part of CHS). This form requests the name(s) of the family (or individual), the total number of people in the immediate family (including the one signing the petition), asks whether or not they live within the Centerville City School District, and whether or not they are a Person (or Family) of Faith, as many People of Faith recognize that God loves all people.

Our Mission Statement (what is normally meant by the clause at the bottom of the petition text that says "A more detailed description can be found on the last page of this packet." This is the most recent draft of the Mission Statement of SPECTRUM, which is the current moniker for and likely official name of the CHS GSA. Note that this is the long version; when simplicity is required, such as on promotional pamphlets, only the final, bold paragraph will be used. Nonetheless, the full version has many very inspiring words and I fully encourage each of you to download it, print it out, and frame it in a prominent position in your home. :-)

A Note about our Policy for taking Teacher's signatures, including especially what to do when teachers would sign the petition but are uncomfortable doing so — they can remain anonymous, this form explains how. The file reads:

Note regarding teachers and other school staff you ask to sign: It's great for teachers or staff to sign the regular petition, have them just mark "T" for teacher under the "grade" column. If a teacher wishes to remain anonymous, that's cool too. Please write down their name, school, and the subject matter they generally teach or the position they hold at school on a separate sheet of paper, and turn that list into me alongside the signatures you collect. I will not share their names with anyone, but will tally up how many of each kind of teacher (e.g., English, Math, etc.) agreed as a separate petition.

The Gamma Policy is how we might go about collecting the names of local businesses or organizations that support our cause: Quite simply, we will compile a list of them. Unfortunately, there is no meaningful way for a business/organization to remain anonymous, so we can only accept those willing to give their names. We understand that most places have policies that do not allow them to take any kind of position on anything that might inadvertently affect anyone in any way. We do not expect a great number of businesses/organizations to flock to our side, but it would be really nice if some would. I am contacting some of the GLBTQ-focused local organizations, and hopefully maybe some of them will sign on.

Note that the "reps" column indicates how many repititions/copies of a document exist per page. I have put as many copies of the documents on a single page as possible so they may be printed in large quantities using minimal pieces of paper. Also, "sign" under the "description" column says that this particular page in the file contains tables that would hold the following number of signatures. PLEASE REALIZE that these documents are provided for you to quickly and easily have a neatly formatted sheet; therefore, you will only in very rare occasions print the entire Word Document; by "document" I mean the little fraction of a piece or single piece of paper you would actually use in any given situation. The helpers at CHS should each receive: 1 copy of the Petition Text, 1 copy of the 3-5 Policy, Some quantity of pages for collecting signatures from Alpha, and 1 copy of the Mission Statemet.
